Heritage Logs
In the 1800’s Minnesota was covered with majestic old growth trees.  With the arrival of the logging industry, the trees quickly began to decrease in number.  Once the majority of these great trees were gone, fires came burning the dry branches and other debris that the loggers had left behind.  The fires hardened any logs and stumps that survived the inferno, leaving them to be a silent yet powerful witness to what once was. In the ensuing years the logs and stumps became covered with moss and lichen, resulting in combined colors of green, black, red, and white. The result on these once great giants of the forest is stunning.

Always looking for ways to please our customers, we dubbed these spectacular works of art with the name ‘Heritage Logs’, and began to look for ways to put their beauty to use in our landscape projects. We soon learned that Heritage Logs are a great tool for hiding unsightly man made objects in a garden. Items such as electrical boxes, sewer caps, and well pipes, can stand out like alien's in a nicely landscaped yard. With the careful placement of a heritage log over an object, the once unsightly blemish now blends in naturally with the environment surrounding it.

The photos shown here, give strong evidence of how a Heritage Log can turn an abnormal object in your yard into a natural landscape feature that looks totally non-invasive to its surroundings.

It is illegal to remove these artifacts from public land without a permit.  We harvest them from private landowners with their permission.
